Welcome to HysterCity
| A hysterectomy? ME? Gee, I don’t know. What is a hysterectomy? How long will I be in the hospital? What will happen afterwards? What about mood swings, menopause symptoms, and HRT? Will it change how I feel? Am I going to regret saying yes? or saying no? I don’t know what to do! Can somebody help me?
Welcome to HysterCity. We are here to help.
Everyday thousands of women, all over the world, will sit in their doctor’s office and discuss the possibility of having a hysterectomy. We want to help you make an informed decision. We have gathered together articles covering every aspect of hysterectomy from what types there are to post surgical problems.
We at HysterCity believe knowledge is power, and education is key in helping you make an informed decision. The more you learn, the better prepared you are to make your decision. Our goal is to offer you information and support during this difficult time. We will do our best to give you all sides of having a hysterectomy, both positive and negative, without trying to influence your decision.
HysterCity also offers a mailing list where you can share your fears, ask questions or share your own experiences, and knowledge with other women who understand what you have been through, or are about to go through.

| Jell-O, ginger and licorice for post surgery nausea |

Most, if not all, of us experienced post surgical nausea. Whether it is a slight queasiness or a half an hour with our heads in the toilet all of us can say that, after surgery, it is the worst. There are several drugs that our physicians can dole out but those can have some nasty side effects that make the whole miserable experience even worse.

| Uterine cancer may raise ovarian cancer risk |

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - As many as one quarter of young women with uterine cancer also have ovarian cancer, new research suggests.
Several groups advocate ovary-sparing treatment to safeguard fertility in young women with uterine cancer, the authors explain, but reports have suggested that these women have ovarian cancer rates ranging from 5 to 29 percent, according to a report in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology.

| The key to great health, "Got sugar?" |

About a year ago my husband asked me if I could do a little research on something called 'glyconutrients'. Being the "get right to it" kind of person I am I tucked the link he sent me into my research file and promptly forgot about it. Six months later, while sipping my morning coffee, I stumble upon an article on what scientists feel may be the greatest breakthrough of modern biology. The article was devoted to the role of glyconutrients in cell-to-cell communication. I dug out the link my husband sent me and what I found was astounding. There are literally thousands of articles devoted to the field of glyconutrients

| U.S. Researchers Halt Second Hormone Therapy Trial |

The National Institutes of Health said on Tuesday it had stopped a trial of women taking estrogen replacement therapy after finding the pills not only failed to improve their health but also may have slightly raised the risk of strokes.
It was the second broad trial of hormone replacement therapy to have been halted in two years. In July 2002, women taking estrogen and progestin were told to stop because of the risk of heart attack, stroke and some forms of cancer.

| A Simply Solution to Post Surgery Urinary Tract Infections |

Science is finally catching up with what HysterCity has been telling our members for over 6 years. Cranberry can prevent and treat Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). UTIs are a common problem post hysterectomy. The cause is not known but some researchers believe it is caused by the use of catheters during surgery. Approximately 50% of all women who have a hysterectomy will develop a UTI.
